From ANDREA ROBERTSONS WORKSHOP;FACILITATING CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION.
BANGKOK 20th, 21st FEBRUARY 2010.
It was with great pleasure that the Childbirth & Breastfeeding Foundation of Thailand (CBFT) welcomed back to Bangkok Andrea Robertson, Foundation Advisor, mentor, renowned childbirth educator, advocator of womens birthrights and Director of Birth International, Sydney. Andrea flew into town for a brief 4 day visit and to conduct a two day workshop, Facilitating Childbirth Preparation.
The workshop was attended by an interesting and diverse group nurse-midwives from the government and private sectors, a lecturer from a nursing university, Doulas from the U.K, America , Germany, two journalists from Rak Luk magazine and two (male) obstetricians.
Members of the group all had interesting stories to tell and we were especially encouraged when we heard that the midwives in both the Chachoengsao and Bangnampraew hospitals in Chachoengsao Province are now practicing Active Birth and Humanized Birth Care. A report of their activities is expected later this year.
Included in the workshop were many strategies that Trainers can use to encourage and enable women to take charge of their pregnancies and birth experiences with empowerment being the core principle of the workshops message.
Many thanks Andrea for, as always, being an inspiration to us all .
