Some good news from the North and Congratulations to the Health Promotion Hospital, Chiangmai.
Just a few weeks ago our Foundation advisor and good friend, Andrea Robertson, visited Bangkok and conducted a two day workshop for Childbirth Educators. Among the participants was a midwife from the labour ward of the Health Promotion Hospital, formally Mae le Dek Hospital (Mother & Child), Chiangmai. She took Andreas message to heart and decided that her unit should and could fully implement Active Birth. So she invited Dr. Tanit Habanananda (obstetrician and the Foundations Chairman) to attend a hospital staff meeting to give information, encouragement and support to the staff. Just a few days later she reported that the labour unit is now encouraging and supporting women and enabling them to give birth in upright positions. Their partners are also present. She tells us that the women are very happy as are the staff. So many congratulations to all of you for helping women to have a safe and satisfying and happy birth experience.
